DIY Canvas light art

DSC_4857If you followed my daughters room makeover process!! on my wishlist was a light art project! View more of my moodboard here!!! And the complete room makeover is here and here!

For this DIY I had on my hand some canvas and some ferry lights and I had to make them work!!!

DIY Canvas light art Collage 1

  1. Mix up the paint color of your choice. I used the color I used for the colorblock wall!! It was bit tough to work with! But It turned out fine.
  2. Considering I was using wall paint on canvas for an easy application i used this foam brush thing! It gave much cleaner application and was very east to use!

DIY canvas light art Collage 2

3. Next I used a pencil to sketch the letters. The font I used was a double lettered font. I drew a line in the middle and on that I dotted around 1 inch apart. That is where I wanted to insert ferry lights.

4. To punch holes I used this screwdriver! Make sure you count the dots carefully to avoid any awkward gaps! I used two ferry light strings of 100 bulbs. So I divided equally 200 dots for the holes!

5. Start punching!

A colorblocked wall room in the softestet shades of pinks and pastels!!!!!!!!

girls bedroom makeover 19

This was a looooong and a very exciting project for me! It was full of DIYs and allllot of changes. The idea was to create a girly space with the minimum expense. The bed was the same needed but was asking for a major!!! headboard update. I first intended to make a fluffy headboard by sticking some fun fabric to it. (coz it was leather everything stuck beautifully) after trying a couple of opotion and couple of hours of sticking it didnt work. The headboard looked messy and less than inviting.. So for a cleaner space i draped these gorgeous dhurries over it to tie up the whole color scheme. I love how it adds character and the flufy thing becomes the centerpiece.. another easy DIY

First step of the transformation was ofcourse paint! I had to create a feature wall and for the whole process check out my post DIY Feature Wall : Color block wall . I am sure you will enjoy the glitches and the love this wall recieved.

So if you checked out my moodboard I had on my list

pom poms

tassels

mint

dhurrie rung

and colorblock wall

I added lots of fun tassles and

For the side tables I added a geometric garden stool on one end and on the other I used this rtretrieved entertainment unit and gave it a coat of paint.. nAd I had plenty of storage and a home for all the pretty cupcake pillows and books and with the net hanging it turned into my daughters favorite reading nook!!!

These floating shelves for books are not actually from ikea.. well technically they are. When we moved to this house we bought a toddler bed for our daughter. On a whim y hussband bought this queen bed as well and suddenly there was no room for a toddler bed and it sat in pieces and logs under our bed for a long time gathering dust. When I saw those amazing floating shelves, it hit me the sides of the toddler bed could be used to the same purpose. My husband bought some L shape things (levers i guess dont know what they are called :D) and he attached the sides of the beds to the wall so it could work as the floating book shelf and can house the books that our little one own.

So these floating shelves practically cost me a dollar I guess!!!!

Not bad!!!!! (pat on the back)

My favourtie feature has to be the mint whimsical star pillow with the pom poms!!!! I am in love with it !!! its just tooooo cuuuute!!!!!

The bedding is an old gift I don’t have the brand of it. The net hanging is from ikea and it has been upgraded with the tassles!!!

The paper lanterns are from Daiso and so is that heart garland!

The fur hanging over the bed is a DIY as well which is soon to be published!!!

SO here it is.. The first series of my DIY girl’s bedroom makeover! Part 2 which showcases the rest of the room will follow soon. And the rest of the series is all the DIYs that I am so excited to share!!girls bedroom makeover 22

New Moms wishlist

This mothers day i will be a mom to three gorgeous kids!!!! Hard to believe but ture!!!

Rewarding yes as much as it sounds its hectic!!!! Loooove every minute of it! But it comes with a price. Its like every second of my day is occupied and I plan on gathering as many stress busters around me as I can. Personal space and me time are some of the precious things compromised along with sleep! But being a veteran at this I have a couple of hacks to ease out this process without losing my entire self to the mommy cap I wear all the time!

So if you are new at this or you know someone who is going to be new at this here are a couple of things I have shortlisted which in my opinion every new mom needs right now!! :

  1. MOBY WRAP: For any new mom its an absolute must. My kids are always spending a huge amount of time on me or hanging over me. Its easily one of the cleverest way to handle work and a newborn together!!! Baby gets so cozy and comfy and sleeps in peace, while you get to do all the hard work in peace! e3899e37-c2c7-4e48-b8e7-2a8b220eb7e2.jpg._CB328304059_
  2. NECK PILLOW:For those loooong nights of nursing when you are too tired and sleepy to stay awake or even to sit up, this travel essential becomes a clever way to make life easier. Your neck stays in place and gives you one less pain to endure.588973657_977
  3. Tummy Belt: This is one essential which is an absolute must must must for every post pregnancy body. All my pregnancies were different. In the first one I bounced back in shape almost instantly. Except for the pooch. At that time i had no idea about the importance of this thing. It just happened to be around and I just wrapped it. Boy am i glad i did. Because it was absolutely amazing. it helped me heal my stitches and also kept my tummy in place. Which made it so much easier to get back into my old self. 7c
  4. Sibling Board: When I saw this concept I immediately fell in love with it!!!! I could only imagine my toddlers lit up eyes on seeing this! i like to keep my independence as a mom. And being a parent has never hampered my active lifestyle. So i was not planning to stop with my third one either. So with one infant one toddler and one preschooler in tow. This seems to me like the prefect crusading the mall device. Can’t wait to take it out for a spin.

Drink lots of water lots of soup and lots of healthy snacks to keep your mommy tummy full and your energy levels up. These are some of the best few moments of your life cherish them as much as you can. What I have learnt is that right planning and stress busters go along way in keeping your head sane. And when you are calm and in control you can obviously take a much better care of tiny people around you.

All the best to all the new mommies out there!!! 😉

How to take sharp Action photos from Nikon

DSC_0193

WHAT YOU NEED!

1.I am assuming you have:

a good SLR. This tutorial is for Nikon SLR, D3200 specifically, coz that is what I am using. And it has given me best results and is excellent for beginners simply because it worked out well for me.

2. Preferably

A Good lens. We need a good lens for low aperture speed. i use 70-40 mm but any good lens will work of course.

3.The coolest ingredient

Lots of sunlight.

I have learnt it the hard way sunlight is the reason behind brilliant pictures. While in this case we need it for the shutter speed, but mostly sunny day OR LOTS OF NATURAL LIGHT is a must for other pics as well.

SETTINGS

1. PUT THE CAMERA IN SHUTTER PRIORITY SETTING

camera5

Turn the dial on top to S

Shutter priority mode means that we can adjust the shutter speed manually and camera takes care of the rest of the stuff. Shutter speed is how fast the camera SHUTTER CLOSES.

Shutter Priority mode means we’ll be setting the shutter speed manually while the camera takes care of the rest of the settings. Shutter speed is how fast the camera records a picture. A very fast shutter speed will freeze action, just what we need. A very slow shutter speed causes blurry images (which can be a cool effect if you want to capture motion like running water in waterfalls or cool night light like .

car light trails) but requires a tripod. Today we want to stop action, so we’ll tell the camera to use a very fast shutter speed.

2. Set the shutter speed to 1/1000

camera 7 edited 2

In addition to the labeled dial, you’ll see an unlabeled black dial on your camera. Use this dial change the shutter speed. Crank it left for lower and slower, right for higher and faster. The higher the number, the faster the shutter speed! Set the dial to change the shutter speed to 1/1000. It may also just say 1000. That is a very fast shutter speed. This means the photo that the camera captures will show what was happening in that one one-thousandth of a second. That’s pretty fast!

3. Change the AF-C and High speed continous

The next two changes that you need to make can be easily done through the little ‘i’ button at the bottom end of the left side of the camera. By pressing this button all the variables you can see in black bricks on your screen like ISO can be monitored.

4. Change the AF-C

Change Af-A to AF-C. You can do this by simply pressing the little “i” button at the bottom of the camera. This is the mode which tracks the subjects movement and can predict before it makes it. Yes it sounds freaky to me too but it actually works. Now you know how intelligent you SLR actually is and how you can manipulate it. 😀

4.Set the shooting mode to continous

edited 7

In continuous shooting mode, you can press the shutter button and hold it down to take several photos in a row without lifting your finger. Coz in this mode the speed at which the camera takes the pictures is much faster, so continous mode makes it easier to keep up with the action and shutter speed.

5. The focus point

The focus point tells the camera where to focus.

  • Auto Select in my opinio is best for photos with one subject (by themselves) in the frame, because we are capturing action and the subject is moving its harder to find perfect  focus with every shot. So just let the camera do this part.

so wrap up: This is how we want our screens to look like when our kids are all geared up for action.

camera 1

  1. put the camera in Shutter Priority ( S) mode
  2. Set the shutter speed to 1/1000
  3. Change the focus mode to AF-C
  4. Change the shooting mode to Continuous
  5. Find your focus point.

Enjoy photography!!!
