How to make use of INSTASTORIES

When I first saw the insta stories emoticon on my insta feed I was like what on earth is that! Was bit reluctant on clicking through them! I was honestly clueless as to what they are and what am I supposed to do with them!

Once I plucked the courage to did click through I was like ummm… I was skeptical about the success of that feature. The things that really ticked me off were the rawness of the images! no filter!! no editing!!! I mean its like a home video what is up with that!!

But once I got into clicking!!! there was no turning back! I went on and on and on with it! jumping right off from one insta story to the other! Even looking forward to the stories that were coming every single day!

I have to admit I was wrong about them! And it took me a while to figure them out!! Here are some things that I have learnt about them and how you can use insta stories to relate to your readers as well!

STORY TELLING

Its story telling at its best!!!! We looooooove stories!! We are used to telling them through our well established and polised insta feeds and this time we are practicing with the unedited real ones!

LACK OF SOPHISTICATION

While we are hard at work creating beautiful images and creating gorgeous feeds. Insta stories come as a relief!!!!! We don’t have to painstakingly style anything!!!!!!!! Really!! And we can still gain our followers love out of it!!!! Really! Really!!

REMOVED BARRIERS

Insta stories has REMOOOOOVED barriers!!! I mean I am making design decisions with Emily Henderson!!!!!!!

How COOL IS THAT!!!!

Its something very personal very fun and very creative!! All at the same time!!

TASTE OF THE PLACE

I once saw the insta story of someone, while in my bed at night exhausted and just drifting to sleep! This insta story was of a person who went to a beaaaauuutiful place to hike. And she posted a short video of herself standing in the midst of the daisy field which were bolwing with wind and looking up at the mountain peeks where the rest of the hikers were!

And the experience was unbelieveble

It was as if I was transmitted to the daisy field

And was feeling the wind passing by!!!!!

It was that powerful

Moral of the story: Nature is very powerful and when you share it unfiltered through the lens of your camera it can be mesmerizing!

So never miss out on an opportunity to share nature with your readers!!

SHOUTOUTS

Some brands like ikea have used it like those power point slide shows to promote and to announce promotions! And there are different factors which make them work!! Like the creative use of cute emoticons! The font and styling!!

No matter how you use it! It is a very effective and powerful tool! And it does have the power to suck you in!!!!!!!!!!!

Verdict: I am going to treat my insta stories like my oolllld insta feed where I was shooting as I go! and having fun with it! I love that I dont hve to worry about glamourizing each adn every image. And I love that it is still powerful in that respect!

And the rest we all know our tastes and strategies change as we go, We are constantly figuring out what goes best for us. Its like we are tuned into getting to know where we have to go.

How are you dealing with your insta stories? What is your favourite part about them? Did they ring any bell with you or prefer your insta stroll more over them? Would love to know!!

Take care!!!

Cars Birthday Party

When you have a 3 year old who cannot get enough of cars you knid of knowww what theme you are going to choose for him.

Throw him a Cars party!!!!!!!!

Works like a charm! πŸ˜‰

cars-birthday-3

I had the most amazing time planning and throwing this party!!! And like any parent my focus was to achieve more visual appeal with little effort! I simply hate the stress and how the moments which are actually meant for you and your little one are lost in cakes and cookies and cake pops!

I am not willing to pay that price! But I am not looking to question or sacrifice the aesthetics! So I was left with the hardest task of all. To find the fine balance!!!!

On the dessert table my favorite was the cupcakes adorned with cutest 2 min flag I glued to the stick and plop there you go!

These chalkboard cuties are a must for all my dessert tables! I looove the fun they add to it!

cars-birthday-9

And whats a cars party without some repair!!!! πŸ˜€ I set up this cute donut repair station!! Not that they needed any! So kids went creative and some did cupcakes and some just helped themselves to the repairing stuff!! πŸ˜€

hey no rules!

cars-birthday-2

The other absolute party hit was this Nutella Freak shake!!!! It was the first thing everyone reached for on the table! It was suuuuuper delicious and oh so fun!! The recipe will be on the blog soon so watch out for that!

Here is how I did it:

5 Ingredient Dessert table

  1. The Cake: I opted for a 3D cake! I saved some bucks and did it myself!! You can either go for a custom cake or simple butter frosting cake with some cute cake toppers!! If you are going for a simpler less demanding cake you need to set them on the pedastel so they shine! a.k.a the cake stand!

  2. The Cupcakes: Evvvvvery dessert table needs cupcakes!! Coz evvvvvvvveryone loves the!! So some eaaasy chocolate frosting and some easy cupcakes recipe! If you want to take the simpler road just use the same batter for your cake, and if you are not baking the cake you can buy some packadged ones and dress them up in your frosting!!

  3. The decor:I set up a Decorating table!!! Kids aaaddddddore decorating their cupcakes!!! They looooooove the decorating! So i just popped in some mnms some sprinkles and donuts!!! To decorate!!!

  4. The star: Add some fun! The star of this table was this Nutella Freak Shakes!!! Eveery one just grabbbbbbed them!! As soon as they could and they were a suuuper hit!!!

  5. The munchies: Pre packaged cookies for munching!!!How awesome is that!! And oreos fit right into my theme!!! Who can say no to them!?

So there you go! 5 ingredient dessert table!

I have to say it was a gorgeous evening!!!! With family and food and games and fun and looooots of laughter! Exactly how Β a party should be!! :):) Minus all the stress!! πŸ˜€

DIY color block planters

Need any excuse to get your hands in this pic πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ pretty colors and cotton swabs.. aren’t they tempting

DSC_1145

I used them to create these color block planters..

Well in this pic they are still in the process…

For this simple DIY you need:

  • Planters of your choice
  • duct tape
  • acrylic paints of your choice: it largely depends on what pots you are using. Clay would need something else. But i used plastic. So acrylic paints worked fine for me.

Instructions:

DSC_1112

  1. Tape the planters in pattern of your choice or just random. Like I did!

And Paint!!!!

DIY-colorblock-planter

Now i have always had difficulty with acrylic paints almost on every material. So in this case too when I used paint brush, it gave me really dreary lines all over with a total yuck effect! So i dropped brush and used cotton swabs instead. As you can see in this picture the different strokes I got while using the two.

DIY-colorblock-planter

Anyone else having this difficulty?!?!

Let me know your solutions or maybe the riight way of using acrylic paints πŸ˜€

So cotton swabs are a winner for me!!!

DIY-colorblock-planters

And this is the end result!!!! I looooooove the pop of color and the life they are bringing to these plants! And my window sill!!

DSC_6789

I let them dry for a few days!! before peeling the tape off! Well it was more out of procrastination than any other reason. But when I did peel, they were completely dry and whenI peeled them I had to line the tape with a scale where the paint and tape were meeting. Just to separate them, otherwise it was the paint off!!

That is all the work I put into this project!!!

Have a fantastic day everyone!!!!
