Painted DIY ceiling

DSC_4914 (2)DSC_4910DSC_4913

Do you know the design trend for 2016 is painted ceiling!!!

Tooooo bold for me was my first thought! But yeeees ofcouuurse i have to admit whom am i kidding! it looks amazing!!!

But i still didnt realize i will actually get off my back and actually do it. Reason fear of failure too much work sounds impossible on my own

Did i mention i am a sucker for black and white stripes! currently working on my living room gallery wall I had to find replacement for my black and white stripes art canvas for it was not working.

but the living room is screaaaaaming for the dramatic contrasting mesmerizing stripes.

And thn it hit me

The blaah ceiling can be turned into wow!!!!

Here is what you need

Duct tape I used the 2 inch one

paint

paint brush

ladder

Here is what I did

This is what I love about stripes! Its like playing with tape like we used to when we were kids!!!

How fun is that

Simply roll out tape and make stripes in whichever pattern you like!

I started from the left end and made the slanting lines leaving a gap of about 2 inches. When I reached the end I started from the middle and did the center triangle. And finished it off with slanting lines on the right!

When you are done with taping just take out the paint and brush and start painting!!!

THE ONNNLY most important thing you need to consider is to be weary of the drips! Coz there will be.

1.Make sure you dont have excess paint on the brush when you dip it in the paint.

2.Cover evvvvvverything below that area for maximum protection and scrubbing avoidance.

3.If you do drip make sure to hop right down and wipe it off till its still wet. So plenty of wiping off clothes on hand!

Let it dry for a day or two

And than remove!!!

To be revealed sooon! But let me tell you it is inteeeense!!!!

Have a gorgeous day ahead!!!

DIY Canvas light art

DSC_4857If you followed my daughters room makeover process!! on my wishlist was a light art project! View more of my moodboard here!!! And the complete room makeover is here and here!

For this DIY I had on my hand some canvas and some ferry lights and I had to make them work!!!

DIY Canvas light art Collage 1

  1. Mix up the paint color of your choice. I used the color I used for the colorblock wall!! It was bit tough to work with! But It turned out fine.
  2. Considering I was using wall paint on canvas for an easy application i used this foam brush thing! It gave much cleaner application and was very east to use!

DIY canvas light art Collage 2

3. Next I used a pencil to sketch the letters. The font I used was a double lettered font. I drew a line in the middle and on that I dotted around 1 inch apart. That is where I wanted to insert ferry lights.

4. To punch holes I used this screwdriver! Make sure you count the dots carefully to avoid any awkward gaps! I used two ferry light strings of 100 bulbs. So I divided equally 200 dots for the holes!

5. Start punching!

girls bedroom makeover 19

This was a looooong and a very exciting project for me! It was full of DIYs and allllot of changes. The idea was to create a girly space with the minimum expense. The bed was the same needed but was asking for a major!!! headboard update. I first intended to make a fluffy headboard by sticking some fun fabric to it. (coz it was leather everything stuck beautifully) after trying a couple of opotion and couple of hours of sticking it didnt work. The headboard looked messy and less than inviting.. So for a cleaner space i draped these gorgeous dhurries over it to tie up the whole color scheme. I love how it adds character and the flufy thing becomes the centerpiece.. another easy DIY

First step of the transformation was ofcourse paint! I had to create a feature wall and for the whole process check out my post DIY Feature Wall : Color block wall . I am sure you will enjoy the glitches and the love this wall recieved.

So if you checked out my moodboard I had on my list

pom poms

tassels

mint

dhurrie rung

and colorblock wall

I added lots of fun tassles and

For the side tables I added a geometric garden stool on one end and on the other I used this rtretrieved entertainment unit and gave it a coat of paint.. nAd I had plenty of storage and a home for all the pretty cupcake pillows and books and with the net hanging it turned into my daughters favorite reading nook!!!

These floating shelves for books are not actually from ikea.. well technically they are. When we moved to this house we bought a toddler bed for our daughter. On a whim y hussband bought this queen bed as well and suddenly there was no room for a toddler bed and it sat in pieces and logs under our bed for a long time gathering dust. When I saw those amazing floating shelves, it hit me the sides of the toddler bed could be used to the same purpose. My husband bought some L shape things (levers i guess dont know what they are called :D) and he attached the sides of the beds to the wall so it could work as the floating book shelf and can house the books that our little one own.

So these floating shelves practically cost me a dollar I guess!!!!

Not bad!!!!! (pat on the back)

The bedding is an old gift I don’t have the brand of it. The net hanging is from ikea and it has been upgraded with the tassles!!!

The paper lanterns are from Daiso and so is that heart garland!

The fur hanging over the bed is a DIY as well which is soon to be published!!!

SO here it is.. The first series of my DIY girl’s bedroom makeover! Part 2 which showcases the rest of the room will follow soon. And the rest of the series is all the DIYs that I am so excited to share!!girls bedroom makeover 22
